Installing aftermarket Car Sound System can really allow you to assemble a robust speaker system for blustering tunes. When I’m feeling distressed, I just get into my Car and drive around aimlessly, sometimes with my friends or mostly alone listening to my favorite playlist and that is relaxing and relishing at the very same time.
Nothing can really distract me from a beautiful drive, But if cranking up the volume creates Rattling, this speaker malfunction can really demolish my frame of mind. Which makes me think “how to stop car door rattling from speakers.”
If this Rattling occurs while you are listening to Music, then you should know that the main reason behind these sounds is your speakers and sub-woofers.
Rattling speakers can be a minor issue, but if we don’t consider it on time, then it could become as severe as the only option you may have to replace your speakers.
But luckily, if you are on time, then we have several ways that we’ll tell you, and you can fix the problem without breaking the bank.
There are several ways to fix your Car Door rattling:
- Empty your Car Door Pockets
- Locate the source of Rattling
- Locate the Speakers for Loose Screws
- Overpowered or underpowered speakers
- Locate Blown Speakers
- Limit Low-frequency by using Bass Blockers
- Car Speakers Enhancement Kit
- Check Body Panels of Car
- Sound Deadening Material
1) Empty your Car Door Pockets:
First of all, before doing anything to your Speakers, just empty the Car Door Pockets. There could be some glasses, watches, water bootle, candies, pebbles, coins, anything could be there, so simply clean it.
After cleaning the pockets, test your door rattling. If it discontinues, then congrats, and if it doesn’t, then we moving on to the next step for sure.
2) Locate the Source of Rattling:
If we want to resolve the problem, we need to know where the problem is so that we can find its solution.
In order to stop the car door rattling, you must diligently observe that where is the Rattling coming from. Usually, there is more than one speaker in your Car, and mostly one of them causes the problem, but you still need to examine all of them deliberately.
As the problem was not in the door pockets so now, we can say that speakers are creating the mess. And to check them, I’ll tell how to check if your speakers are rattling?
Use of Equalizer:
I guess you are probably familiar with the equalizer in your Sound System thanks to this feature, so now you can easily control all your speakers, and you can easily control or adjust volume, bass, treble, etc.
It will allow you to adjust the sound between front and rear speakers. Similarly, you can adjust between the right and left of your front and rear speakers.
And try to use a better file with more size having good vocals so it will provide a more refined quality of sound because it is not compressed.
3) Locate the Speaker for Loose Screws:
After we found the culprit and we know that Rattling is coming inside the doors, we can now start attempting to fix the issues. And for that, we need to remove the car door panels at the very first moment.
After detaching the car door panels, you can examine the car speaker mounting. Balance the Music and make sure the speaker should produce the rattle. So now turn the Music on and see if Rattling occurs then hold the speakers. If rattling stops, then we are going to blame the screws.
Now we can attempt to tighten the loose screws, and it’ll be easier if you add a washer before screws to tighten them. Sometimes they are not correctly balanced, so look for it if they do not, then fix them too.
Now, this was the problem, then it should not rattle again, but it’s not, then I guess you need to read more from my article.
4) Overpowered or underpowered Speakers:
Speakers do have a range up to such limits; they work flawlessly, but the power from the source is excessive or insufficient; it results in distortion or Rattling.
When the power to the speaker is excessive, and you increase the volume to the maximum extent, it will increase the voltage signals, which will make the speaker cone to move beyond limits in such case, not only rattling begins, but it can also tear the cone apart. Similar is the case with low power. So you simply need to adjust the supply. And you can do it with your amplifier, and if you don’t have one, first buy that thing it will give you a way better experience of Music.
5) Locate Blown Speakers:
The next cause can be blown speakers probably. There could be a tear in the outer-cone or the inner reflexive cone, which can create a distorted or rattling sound.
Remove the foam cover of the speaker and examine the outer cone first and look for tears. If you find one, it can usually be repaired by duct tape. Cut it and seal it appropriately and then test your speakers if they are working well.
If not, then go for the check on the inner- reflexive cone, remove it by opening the screws and see if there is a tear in the inner-cone. If there is, then repair it too with the duct tape.
If rappelling is gone, then you are free to go; otherwise, we have got a lot for you to read.
When you crank up the volume, side speakers cannot control the low-pitched frequencies and probably blew. So, for such purpose, you are going to need a sub-woofer because it can handle that cranked volume.
By getting a sub-woofer, your speakers will have the least burden, and they will work well.
But keep in mind if you are installing a sub-woofer in your system, then you also need to have a capacitor because the factory doesn’t make the Sound System according to your upgrades.
Most cars do not support the amount of energy a sub-woofers will drain. Essentially it prevents your sub-woofer from draining your car battery and doesn’t let it disturb the other vital parts of the Car which need power from the battery.
7) Limit Low-frequency by Using Bass Blockers:
We have placed a sub-woofer because we know that low-pitched frequencies are making the problems. As I have told you before that the factory-installed side speakers are may not be able to handle the cranked-up volume having low-frequency and loud bass.
The sub-woofer is supposed to handle the low frequencies, and side speakers will capture the high-frequencies.
And when you install the bass blockers, you will eliminate the problem. Bass Blockers are essential for cutting off low-frequency and allow only mid and high frequencies, which ultimately provides a better Music experience. These Bass Blockers are installed between Speaker and Receiver.
8) Car Speaker Enhancement Kit:
The enhancement Kit involves foam rings. It acts as a gasket; the second ring goes for the outer speaker; the third one is the pad, which absorbs reflections. These foams are used to dampen the vibrations, so there will be no ratling.
The rings’ size should be the same as of speakers; otherwise, it’ll not work well. This foam doesn’t let the sound rattle the doors but only facilitate the cabin.
9) Check Body Panels Of Car:
Rattling sounds can come from car body panels, panels on doors, dashboards, headliners. They all can produce rattling sounds on specific frequencies. For removing the panels, a plastic material kit is advised to prevent your Car from scratches.
You can simply install vibration-damping materials. Some people simply install wall insulation, but I suggest you to place precut sheets, which often come in different precutting like for doors, floors, etc. You still need to cut them exactly the size you want, but they are the most convenient thing in vibration-damping material.
10) Sound Deadening Material:
While you have opened the Car body panels and you want to enjoy upper-grade Music then you can place sound deadening mats that are made of some soundproof material, and they will even reduce the road noise. And it will definitely intensify your driving experience.
These mats come for different areas of your Car like a door, floor, roof, trunk, etc. But the thing that should not be forgotten is the thickness and heat-resistance of these mats, and you must choose self-adhesive mats so it will be easier for you to place them.
As it is challenging to place this material on the door panels but is easier for the floor, trunk, and roof as you just need to cut the mat according to the size and install it.
You will probably just need to remove mats or protective material of your Car while you are placing these Sound-deadening Materials.
Speakers are an essential part of Car these days because without Music it is quite dull out there, especially when you are moving alone. And the Rattling of speakers in such loneliness makes you more furious.
Even after following all the above steps rattling is still there, then you need to go to the professional workshop where he can address this problem even better than us because he simply can see the things in front of him.
In the end, most cars have rattling sounds when you crank up the Volume and Bass beyond limits. Consider the above explanation, whether you are a newbie or some experienced person.
